Teagan Johnston, is a multidisciplinary artist who’s work focuses on emotional rawness and communication. Born in the Yukon, raised between South Africa, Spain, Switzerland and the West Coast of Canada, Teagan brings a vast and ever layered perspective to her work.
Beginning her career as a musician, under the name Little Coyote, Teagan’s debut album The Trouble with Teeth was released in October 2017 with the enthusiastic support of American Label EggHunt Records, best known for their release of Lucy Dacus’s first record. Teagan released a subsequent Little Coyote EP and debut album after pivoting to Teagan Johnston in 2022. Teagan’s sophomore album Big Time is slated for release October 2026. Singles for Big Time have already been praised by outlets such as CBC Q , Sirius XM and Exclaim!.
Teagan is a seasoned and experienced live performer, at home playing solo or backed by a band, she has toured North America, Japan and Europe, including performing a special set at David Lynch’s prestigious private Paris nightclub, Silencio. She has opened for artists such as July Talk, Japanese Breakfast, Lucy Dacus and Current Joys. During the writing process of Big Time Teagan spent two years exploring the songs with a live band and audiences in her local music scene of Toronto. Wallace, Thomas Kelly, Michele Galay and Jessica Lahey.
In 2019 Teagan acted in and contributed score for a Canadian Indie Horror movie, The Strings. Outlets such as The New York Times, The A.V. Club and more have called Johnston’s performance and music in The Strings “commanding” and “magnetic.”
Teagan directs and edits all of her own music videos and has directed music videos for fellow for Canadian artists such as Skye Wallace, Altered By Mom as well as writing and directing her own short film, Flashblood, which premiered in 2023 in Toronto, ON and Brooklyn, NY. Teagan’s writing work can also be found in The Toronto Star, The West End Phoenix and She Does The City. She additionally works independently full time as a teacher in Toronto specializing in piano, vocals, performing, and songwriting.
